This image shows the ruins of a medieval abbey or church. The structure is characterized by a long nave marked by multiple arched windows along the walls, indicating a Gothic architectural style. At the far end, there is a more intact section with a pointed arch and several tall, narrow window openings that would have once held stained glass, leading to a roofless, arch-framed altar area. The ground is covered with gravel, and the remnants of the building give a historical and serene feel. The vegetation growing on and around the stone walls adds to the ancient and abandoned aesthetics of the place.

10/14/1066 AD: On this location the battle took place that shaped England’s destiny and more or less ended the Viking raids in England.

This date and reminds us that history is always present, day by day - and William the Conqueror decided to build a church on the place where all this happened to fortify his victory…
